Privacy Policy

1. Information you store in the app

The app only processes data you enter for your own home records:

• Household & properties: names, optional addresses, home type, rooms, systems, and storage locations.
• Members: display names used only to assign tasks—not as login accounts.
• Items: appliances, systems, furniture, electronics, tools, and other possessions, including make, model, serial, barcode, dates, seller, values, condition, notes, and photos.
• Tasks: chores and maintenance, recurrence, due dates, assignees, instructions, and completion history.
• Warranties, repairs & contractors: coverage notes, service events, costs, and contact details you enter.
• Documents: receipts, manuals, warranty cards, invoices, and other files you explicitly attach.

We do not require a separate account beyond your Apple ID for iCloud. Do not store alarm codes, keysafe codes, passwords, payment card numbers, or identity documents in the app.

2. Where data is stored

Home data is saved on your device and, when you enable iCloud sharing, in your iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. Local-only households stay on the device. Shared households use Apple’s CloudKit sharing when you invite family or collaborators.

3. Camera, photos, and attachments

Camera access is requested only after you choose to take a photo, scan a barcode, or scan a document. Photo library access uses the system picker when possible. Barcode and text recognition run on-device. Extracted fields are shown for confirmation and are never silently applied. Attachments sync to invited household members when sharing is enabled.

4. Notifications

Local reminders may be scheduled for tasks and warranties after you enable them. Default lock-screen notifications are privacy-safe and omit item and property details unless you opt in.

5. Sharing with a household

When you share a household, invited participants can view and edit the shared home graph, including addresses, possessions, values, serial numbers, receipts, photos, repairs, contractors, notes, and documents. Sharing uses Apple’s native CloudKit invitation flow. There is no public link.

6. Third-party services in the app

The app does not embed analytics SDKs, ads, or third-party trackers. Purchases use Apple StoreKit. Sync uses Apple iCloud (CloudKit) when you choose to share. Barcodes and scanned text are never sent to an external catalog or analytics service.

7. Website (if you use our marketing pages)

If you visit our public website, it may use standard tools such as Google Tag Manager or similar for aggregated traffic insight. That activity is separate from data inside the iOS app and is governed by the policies of those providers.

8. Export

You can export records as CSV and PDF, including an insurance-oriented inventory package and a home-handoff package. Exports are explicit user actions and may contain values, serial numbers, addresses, photos, and other sensitive content. Exports do not prove ownership, value, warranty eligibility, safety, or insurance coverage.

9. Retention and deletion

Data remains on your device and, if shared, in your iCloud while you use the app. You can archive or delete records inside the app. Owners can stop sharing. Participants can leave a shared household. To remove all app data from iCloud, use your Apple ID / iCloud settings or delete the app and associated iCloud data as described by Apple.

10. Not professional advice

House Maintenance Tracker is organizational software for home records. It is not insurance, appraisal, safety assessment, repair instruction, or professional advice. Manufacturer instructions and qualified professionals take precedence.

We may update this policy; the effective date at the top will change when we do. Please review this page occasionally.
